Artist Statement
Rosie Pringle is a Seattle-based artist, graphic designer, and chronic serial murderer of ink pens. She grew up in Tampa, Florida surrounded by the books of her English professor father and the computers of her technology geek mother. Her interest in drawing and painting was nurtured as a preteen working summers alongside her grandmother in the Art Department at Meredith College.
She moved to Brooklyn, New York in 2008 to study design at Pratt Institute. She spent the next 15 years in Brooklyn, starting her own illustrated merchandise company Supernature in 2020 before her move to Seattle in early 2024. Over her career, she has worked as a design consultant as well as an illustration freelancer and art instructor.
Rosie also has also published travel and culture articles at her blog Wondrous Paths for several years, as well as the occasional design rant on Medium or sappy poetry on Substack.
Themes in Rosie’s art include subversions of mythological and cultural archetypes, humanity’s relationship with Nature, meditations on modern mysticism, and rumination on loss, death, and grief. Her current preferred media and disciplines include ink, watercolor, alcohol marker, calligraphy, digital drawing, cartography, tessellation, block printing, and collage.
